'Women Don't Paint Well - It's A Fact'


The painter Georg Baselitz's comments in an interview with Der Spiegel in January 2013 - that women painters didn't pass the market value test and couldn't paint -- are shocking, as many would argue that there have been generations of brilliant women painters but without the recognition they deserve.

So are Baseltiz's views more widespread than we think, bubbling under the surface in the world of visual arts? Or is he an old fashioned anomaly? And does this have anything in common with other art forms?
